WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Santa stopped by the University FCU on Christmas Eve, but it wasn't to spread holiday cheer.
A man, wearing a red and white Santa cap and a beard made of cotton balls robbed the CU's office at 2755 S. Redwood Road here at 9:40 a.m., according to authorities who said the man escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
The robber, who has not been apprehended, was described as an African American male, between 35 and 40 years old, about 5-feet-9 inches tall, and was last seen wearing a dark sweatshirt, blue jeans and light colored gloves. The $660 million credit union is based in Salt Lake City.
That bank robbery was one of two in Salt Lake County on Tuesday. Just before 11 a.m., a man entered Health Care Credit Union's 769 E. South Temple office, and demanded money, according to Salt Lake police. The man left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He was described as a white man, between 20 and 30 years old, about 5-feet-7 inches tall, 150 pounds, with tattoos on his neck. He was last seen wearing dark rimmed glasses, a black beanie cap, black gloves and a dark jacket.
The $72 million-asset Health Care CU is based in Salt Lake City.
