Navigator CU Wins 'Best' Award

A campaign to tell members of the former Ingalls Employees Credit Union about its new name-Navigator Credit Union-won the Competition's Best Award in the Diamond Awards marketing competition hosted by the CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council last week.

The Pascagoula, Miss.-based Navigator CU beat out 1,400 entries to win "Competition's Best" for the work it did in changing the 64-year-old CU's name from Ingalls Employees. The credit union noted that the process-from the time the initial decision was made to the actual name change-was only 11 months. With the new name came a new logo design, extensive website design, member focus groups, a survey of the entire membership, a membership-wide vote on the new name, and three specific events during March of 2003 to introduce the new name to employees, members and community leaders.

Other overall winners included:

Best Association Entry: The "Let's Talk Campaign" by the New Your State CU League. The Best Use of Humor: to the "Bank-O-Suction Relationship" campaign from Texans Credit Union, Richardson, Texas. Best Use of Art: American Dreams Consumer Loan Campaign, Spokane Teachers Credit Union, Spokane, Wash.
