Free Checking, ATM Targets Youth

MIRAMAR, Fla.-Tropical Financial CU rolled out a new program that will provide its young members ages 18 to 24, with free checking accounts and free ATM access. The program, called i$ucceed, offers free checking accounts along with the benefits of having access to loan specialists for applying for a car loan and mortgage through the credit union. With this new program, more young adults will be able to finance their cars through Tropical's special borrower program, without the worry of excessively high interest rates.

Md. SECU Launches Youth Website

LINTHICUM, Md.-State Employees CU has introduced a new money management tool, "The Buck Starts Here" (at www. YoungAdult.SecuMd.org). The free service is designed for young adults ages 16 to 26. The site, which provides financial resources, banking information, financial education, and interactive questions and answers, will be introduced into the honors economics instruction at Lansdowne High School's Academy of Finance.

DuPont Offers Title Insurance

WAYNESBORO, Va.-DuPont Community CU is offering its members real estate title insurance. The title insurance will be offered through the credit union's wholly owned CUSO, DCCU Title Services.

FedChoice Offers Immediate Funding

WASHINGTON-FedChoice FCU's online banking service now allows members to apply for a Personal Choice Unsecured Signature Loan and receive the funding immediately if they meet certain eligibility requirements. Funds are deposited into the member's FedChoice checking or main share savings account. As part of this service all of the loan and insurance documents and disclosures as also posted online and can be signed electronically.

UW CU Rolls Out Paycheck Advance

MADISON, Wis.-UW CU has rolled out Paycheck Advance, an alternative to payday lending that offers short-term loans without the traditional loan application process at an interest rate lower than than the average offered by storefront payday lenders. Paycheck Advance has a fixed interest rate of 21.75%. The CU said the program has no application fee, no monthly service fee, no prepayment penalty and can be used multiple times without reapplying.
