RALEIGH, NC. – State Employees CU said its SECU Foundation will contribute $4 million to construction of the state’s Nature Research Center, a $54 million private-public partnership that will be part of the eco-friendly Green Square Project.
The SECU grant will be used to build the SECU Daily Planet, a state-of-the-art, multimedia presentation area that will be the centerpiece of the research center. It will broadcast live feeds of science news to school audiences across the state.
The $22 billion credit union is also building a 12-story office building as part of the complex.
Estimated to cost more than $100 million, the entire Green Square is scheduled to be completed by early 2012.
