Notre Dame FCU Pays Off Student Loan For Sweepstakes Winner

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame FCU has paid off the $15,000 outstanding on the student loan for one college student member as part of its Student Loan Payoff Sweepstakes.

The member has been with the credit union since her freshman year. She currently is a volunteer with the Peace Corps teaching English in Panama. She lives in a small town and helps six English teachers at the local school to improve their pre-K through 9th grade classes.

“We are in the Financial Empowerment Business. Many of our members expressed that overwhelming student loan debt was preventing them from achieving their future goals and we wanted to help by paying off one lucky member’s student loans,” said Tom Gryp, president of the $440-million credit union.
