WASHINGTON–The Trust for Credit Unions reported invested funds rose 35% in the first quarter of 2008, up to $2.047 billion in total balances. The TCU Portfolios, which are advised by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, offer three funds: Money Market Portfolio, Short Duration Fund, and Ultra Short Duration Fund. The Trust for Credit Unions is a group of investment funds exclusively for credit unions. Founded in 1988 by 20 credit unions, the primary purpose of the TCU is to provide an opportunity for credit unions to diversify.

720 FIs Using RDC Solution

MONETT, Mo.–Jack Henry & Associates Inc. reported that its Remote Deposit Capture solution has now been selected by 720 financial institutions. The solution enables commercial customers to scan, submit, and deposit checks electronically without leaving their place of business. Approximately 11,000 merchants are represented by the participating financials. The Remote Deposit Capture solution supports virtually any commercial entity that accepts checks as a form of payment, the company said.

KNOWMORE Solution Expands

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–KNOWMORE, the educational department of the Florida CU League, said it is partnering with the California Credit Union League to offer additional learning opportunities through eTrain, a series of educational web seminars. The 2008 program will consist of 26 web seminars starting in April. The cost of each connection for affiliated members is $169. “This is an extremely cost-effective solution because credit unions can train several staff members at one low price,” said KNOWMORE.

Paper Examines Loyalty Programs

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah–With research showing membership in loyalty reward programs in the U.S. at 1.3 billion, some four times the population, Allegiance has released a new white paper that examines whether the programs “actually create customer loyalty, or are they just a bribe for repeat business. And what happens when rewards are no longer given out, do customers stay?” The paper is entitled “Buying Loyalty: Do Rewards Programs Translate into Customer Engagement?”
