Officer Cleared In RobberyShoot-Out

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. - (06/16/06) – An off-duty police officer wasjustified in shooting a would-be robber at the CU Service Centerher last month, prosecutors ruled. Corporal Greg Wipfli was inuniform and working security at the shared branch when AaronKennedy walked into the branch wearing a mask and brandishing agun. Witnesses said Kennedy shot three times at Wipfli before theofficer fired back and hit Kennedy three times in the chest andonce in the leg. The would-be robber remains hospitalized for hiswounds. A 71-year-old member suffered a minor wound when she wasshot in the leg during the gunfight.
