PowerNet CU Splits President and CEO Roles

TAMPA — PowerNet CU has split the role of president and chief executive officer.

Longtime PNCU president and CEO Tim McMurry will remain president of the $72 million credit union, while CFO Don Prue is set to step in as chief executive, according to a statement released by the credit union.

McMurry has been with PNCU for more than 37 years, and the move is part of a succession plan put in place by the board of directors.

Prue has spent the last 12 years as chief financial officer of the credit union, and will now lead the institution’s day-to-day operations going forward. McMurry's role will be to continue to build strong member relationships. The 3,900-member CU recently expanded its potential base to include statewide services to more than 30 building and construction unions.

"This change in the field of membership will be an important tool for us to help thousands of Florida's union members gain greater financial independence and reach a more successful retirement after a life of dedication to the organized construction industry," McMurry said in a statement. "PowerNet has helped thousands of members over the years, we want to build on that going forward."
