President Names NCUA Nominee

WASHINGTON - (04/29/05) -- The White House announced Fridaythat President Bush plans to nominate Rodney Hood, currentlyassociate administrator for rural housing in the U.S. Department ofAgriculture, to the NCUA Board. The rural housing services is thelargest direct lender of loans in the federal government. Hood, aNorth Carolina Republican, would fill the third seat on thethree-person panel that has been vacant since last year's departureof Dennis Dollar. He must first undergo hearings by the SenateBanking Committee, then a vote on final confirmation by theSenate.
