ATLANTA - (05/05/06) John H. Harland Co. reported a24% rise in net income for its fiscal first quarter Thursday to$21.3 million, or 78 cents a share. The credit union outsourcersaid revenues surged 28% to $273.5 million for the quarter, withhealthy gains in the companys printed products segment(23%); software and services (50%); and Scantron (5%). Firstquarter results included two cents a share for implementation ofFinancial Accounting Statement 123 accounting for share-basedcompensation (stock options). During the first quarter, the companyrepurchased 507,100 shares of stock at a total cost of $18.7million, or $36.95 per share.
