The State of Wyoming does not currently have a budget shortfall; however, various taxes, such as mineral taxes or state service taxes are always a concern. Because all Wyoming credit unions are federally chartered, a new tax threat to credit unions would be rated low. Wyoming credit unions make it a priority to build relationships with legislators, so that they understand the unique differences between banks and other financial institutions. It has been extremely beneficial to be able to share information gained through Project Zip Code, to help legislators understand the strong numbers of credit union members among their constituents.
