WESTBROOK, Maine - November proved to be very good for Maine's credit unions, at least media-wise. According to the Maine Credit Union League, Maine's credit unions have been featured in 42 radio news stories and/or interviews, 61 newspaper articles and 12 TV news stories during the month.

Stories and topics have ranged from coverage of the Maine Credit Unions' Ending Hunger Walking Tour, a month-long activity, and the Holiday CD of Christmas songs featuring all Maine artists, including two Grammy Award winners, that Maine credit unions have partnered to offer to benefit ending hunger to credit unions offering fuel assistance loans and the strong credit union support of food drives across the State. Maine's credit unions are also receiving significant attention through several public service announcements airing at no charge on a number of TV and radio stations that focus on the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger as well as promoting the league's website as a resource.

December is already lining up to be another busy month of media activity with coverage already scheduled on credit union growth in 2007, what credit unions are doing to serve younger members, the efforts to support ending hunger and youth financial education through holiday shopping.

The frequent media coverage for Maine's credit unions in November comes on the heels of a successful month of October for media activity that included significant focus on credit unions across Maine during International Credit Union Week through a number of radio interviews in all markets to CU Week supplements that included all editorial content supplied by the League.
