Revenues, Profits Fall At Check Printer Deluxe

SHOREVIEW, Minn. – Deluxe Corp. said Friday profits fell 15% in the second quarter as revenues continued to slide.

Second quarter profits were $27.8 million, down from$32.6 million for the second quarter last year.

Revenues were down 9% in the quarter, to $332.1 million, as sales slipped across the board: in the company’s business services unit (by 8%); its financial service unit (by 9%) and in direct checks (by 14%).

For the first six months of the year Deluxe reported a 33% decline in profits, to $40.3 million, and a 10% decline in revenues, to $415.4 million.
