JOLIET, Ill. – A man who robbed NuMark CU of $25,000, then used the money to buy a car just hours later, was sentenced Friday to three years in prison.

Christian Noel, 23, was one of two masked assailants, one armed with a handgun, who burst into the credit union soon after opening on Aug. 5, 2006, then fled with the large amount of cash.
Just three hours later, Noel visited a used car dealership and used $5,000 of the loot to buy a Chevy Tahoe. The dealer became suspicious and contacted police, who matched the serial numbers on the bills to those taken from the credit union.
Noel’s accomplice, Donald Woods, 26, was convicted in September and is awaiting sentencing.
