Six CUs Select Summit For Disaster Recovery

Six credit unions have selected Summit Information Systems, a unit of Fiserv, to provide disaster recovery services.

With the additions of Santa Rosa County Credit Union, Happy Valley Credit Union, Kraft Foods Federal Credit Union, Citizens First Credit Union, Shell Community Credit Union and Valley Federal Credit Union of Montana during 2003, Summit currently provides disaster recovery services to more than 170 credit unions nationwide. The daily focus of Summit's Disaster Recovery Services Group is testing and assisting credit union clients with the installation of hardware, software, and management systems to help reduce the possibility of a host computer outage, the company noted.

Summit's Disaster Recovery Services Group has recently formed a strategic alliance with Beechglen Development, Inc. to resell Beechglen's automated logging software, CloneLog. Created specifically for a Summit client, Members 1st Federal Credit Union of Mechanicsburg,

Pennsylvania, the CloneLog software continuously runs in the system's background, creating a real-time copy of the Summit Spectrum processing system's transaction log files. The files can be copied on any PC disk drive or server connected to a credit union's network, including remote branch locations.

Since it became available a few months ago, 19 Summit credit union clients have subscribed to CloneLog software, Stewart said.
