Small Indiana CU Rebrands In Attempt To 'Thrive'

MUNCIE, Ind. — Industrial Centre FCU here has rebranded itself as Thrive Credit Union.

The name change comes after more than a year of research and analysis across the organization, the credit union said in a statement released Wednesday, and represents the institution's new mission: helping members succeed and thrive financially.

"I could not be more excited about beginning this next chapter as Thrive Credit Union," said President and CEO Brett Rinker. "While IFCU certainly holds a great deal of emotional equity, it was time to update our name to better represent who we are today and how we want to grow in the future."

The $48 million credit union currently serves more than 5,000 members.

In additional to financial services, Thrive plans to offer new "financial empowerment resources," including free financial counseling at both branch locations.

Originally chartered in 1940 to serve employees of Delco Battery, the institution now serves anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Delaware County.

According to its June call report, Thrive has $27 million in loans on the books, more than half of which is in real estate lending, with another $7 million concentrated in new and used auto lending. The credit union currently shows a loss of $42,000 for the year. It earned just under $6,000 in 2013.
