HOUSTON — Larry Seidl is set to take over as CEO of Smart Financial CU here after current CEO Gary Tuma retires at yearend.
Seidl takes the helm with more than 25 years of credit union management under his belt, including lending, operations, and product and business development expertise. He currently serves as SVP and chief lending officer at the $632 million-asset credit union, where he has managed consumer, commercial, mortgage, and auto indirect lending, as well as collections.
Tuma credited Seidl's "keen understanding of Smart Financial's culture and its history of service to Greater Houston and the surrounding communities. I am confident that Smart Financial will continue to thrive under his leadership and expertise."
Prior to joining Smart Financial, Seidl served as SVP and chief operating officer of Dallas Telco FCU, as well as Neighborhood CU and Community CU. He has been a member of the Texas CU League Lending Council Executive Committee, and is a member of the Smart Financial Foundation board and the Houston Asian Chamber of Commerce.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to build on the momentum Mr. Tuma has created for Smart Financial and look forward to continuing to serve our members as I embark on this new chapter," he said in a statement.
