SAGINAW, Mich. - (12/21/04) -- Three honor-roll students atHeritage High School earned $136.99 each as part of CommunicationsFamily CU's 'Millionaire For A Day' sweepstakes. The earningrepresented a day's worth of dividends set at the 5% annual rate on$1 million deposited in the students' accounts for a day. "We havea branch at the school and every year we do something to honor thebest students," Rachel Valdiserri, a spokesman for the creditunion, told The Credit Union Journal. The three winners werechosen--each from one of the school's lunch periods--in a drawingfrom about 280 participants. Each was presented with an oversizedcheck representing their winnings that said, 'Interest on $1million.'
