MARSHALL, Mich. – Ten teenage students will compete for matching deposits from Marshall Community CU as part of the credit union’s "Financially Made" savings contest.
The savings contest is one of several being staged by credit unions around the country to encourage financial education and savings. Last week, GECU in Texas awarded two families $10,000 each for adhering to their savings plans, and other credit unions are launching similar contests.
The students, from 13-to-17, will prepare a budget plan to obtain their short-term goals and attend financial literacy courses at Marshall Community CU in exchange for the credit union matching deposits.
