TAMPA, Fla. - (11/04/05) -- Suncoast Schools FCU announcedThursday it will award $180,000 college scholarships in 2006 toeligible students in every one of the state's 15 counties it whichit operates. Each public high school in Levy, Citrus, Sumter,Hernando, Pasco, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Hardee, Desoto,Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry and Collier counties will be awarded$1,000 for students attending a state university, community collegeor vocational center. Some of the funds will also be dedicated tohelp fund classroom initiatives not funded by tax dollars, likefield trips, band, sports uniforms and insurance. The 2006 awardwill be more than double the $54,000 in scholarships to 35college-bound students the credit union granted thisyear.
