ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Suncoast Schools FCU opened a new branch in the low-income neighborhood of south St. Petersburg Friday, the latest in an effort by the state’s largest credit union to reach the underserved market.
City officials have been working with area banks and credit unions to get them to locate facilitie sin in midtown as part of its revitalization. SunTrust Bank is also planning a branch for the neighborhood.
Northwood CU Helps Stuff-a-Bus With Winter Blankets
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Members and employees of Northwood CU helped collect hundreds of blankets and winter clothes to warm the community’s neediest during the cold winter months.
They helped cover the bus seats with scores of new twin-size fleece throws and cotton and plush blankets as part of the Red Crosses annual Stuff-a-Bus Blanket Day for the Homeless. Credit union employees and members also donated about $200 to buy more goods. The blankets will be passed on to homeless shelters and disaster victims, such as families displaced by house fires.
