BISMARCK, S.D. – In the latest drive to consolidate state credit union trade association, the North Dakota and South Dakota credit union leagues announced yesterday they are merging and will now operate jointly as the Mid-America CU Association. Tony Richards, who will preside over the new organization, said it was the first time two leagues have actually combined operations. In recent years, the Colorado league has assumed operations for the Montana league; the California league for Nevada; and more than a decade ago, the Massachusetts league assumed operations for the New Hampshire and Rhode Island leagues. The new organization, MACUA, will provide services for 90 credit unions in the Dakotas.
