Thieves Hack Into VyStar CUAccounts
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - (05/30/06) Members of VyStar CU were beingwarned last week that hackers had broken into the creditunions database and stole member information. Letters sentto members last week indicated that names, addresses, SocialSecurity numbers, birth dates, mothers maiden names and/oremail addresses may have been stolen. But credit union officialswere insisting that no account numbers, credit card or ATM cardnumbers, PINs, passwords or log-in Ids were stolen. Officials ofthe credit union giant were urging members to closely monitor theiraccounts. Letters were sent to as many as 10% of the credit union344,000 members.
