Tri-Pointe Community CU Merges Into Genisys CU

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Members of the Tri-Pointe Community Credit Union of Grand Blanc, Mich., approved a proposal to merge the institution with Genisys Credit Union here at a recent special membership meeting.

The merger is expected to become effective April 1, while integration of operations will be completed by the end of the year.

With the addition of Tri-Pointe's branches, Genisys will have a total of 29 branches, including 26 in Michigan.

On a combined basis, the new entity, which will retain the Genisys name, will have assets of more than $1.8 billion and serve almost 175,000 members.

Tri-Pointe said no jobs will be eliminated due to the merger.

"I am very pleased that the membership has validated our board's decision to join with Genisys," said Mack McConnell, current president and CEO of Tri-Pointe, in a statement. "This is an extension of the success that Tri-Pointe has had throughout its history. Genisys will provide our members with continued financial strength and a strong commitment to meeting their ever-changing needs."

McConnell will remain with the combined credit union through the transition period and then retire.

Jackie Buchanan, president and CEO of Genisys, stated: "We are so pleased to have the approval of the Tri-Pointe members and we look forward to providing outstanding service and new financial products to them. We are committed to making the transition as quick and smooth as possible for our members."
