Utilities Employees CU Elevates Veteran EVP To CEO

WYOMISSING, Pa. — Patricia Zyma has been named president and CEO of Utilities Employees CU here, succeeding recently retired CEO Glen Yeager.

"We knew Pat was the superlative person to lead UECU and provide the organization with a smooth transition — she has the qualifications, the demeanor of a CEO, and a real insight into the cultural success of the credit union," UECU Board President Steven Schumacher said in a statement. "It was a very clear choice, and we couldn't be happier that she has accepted this new role."

In addition to being a CPA and a graduate of the CUES CEO Institute, Zyma has served in a variety of executive positions since joining Utilities Employees in 1997, first as a VP and then as a CFO and EVP. While at the credit union she has helped to set and implement strategic direction, and provided oversight for various financial and operational areas of the CU, which has been recognized by multiple organizations for fiscal soundness and strong financial performance.

UECU serves more than 44,000 members and has more than $1 billion in assets. It currently has more than $256 million in loans on the books, more than half of which is concentrated in real estate lending, and earned $4.6 million during the first two quarters of this year.
