ROANOKE, Va. Blue Eagle FCU, a $115-million credit union formerly known as Roanoke Postal Employees FCU, has agreed to merged into it Southwestern Telco FCU, a struggling, $7-million Roanoke credit union.

Southwestern Telco has reported losses for 2011, 2012 and the first six months of 2013.
“This was the toughest decision our board has made, but we felt that it was the right decision for our members,” said Becky Crosswhite, president of the Southwestern Telco board. “After considering several potential merger partners, we felt Blue Eagle Credit Union matched what we were looking for in a continuing credit union for our members.”
