SAN FRANCISCO - (06/01/06) -- Visa USA announced Wednesday it isfinally integrating its Plus ATM network with its corepoint-of-sale transaction network, the largest in the world. Theintegration means all transactions over one million Plus ATMs willbe processed on the company's VisaNet authorization system whichwill allow Visa's Advanced Authorization fraud detection system tobe used for all Plus ATM transactions. Advanced Authorization willprovide real-time fraud intelligence on every Plus transaction,providing a rating on each transaction's potential for fraud.Previously ATM transactions were not scored by the AdvancedAuthorization system. The combination of the two systems is part ofan eventual plan by Visa to phase out the separate Plus processingplatform. Visa acquired the Plus system in 1994.
