Two Madison, Wis., credit unions have announced a merger deal that would create the state's largest credit union.
Summit Credit Union, the former State Capitol Credit Union, is the state's sixth-largest credit union, with almost $711 million of assets and nearly 65,000 members, according to data from the National Credit Union Administration.
Great Wisconsin has $393 million of assets and nearly 48,000 members.
The combined credit union would retain the Summit name and would surpass the $1 billion-asset Landmark Credit Union in New Berlin as the state's largest. The merger is scheduled to close in January.
