RCU Celebrates 100,000th Member

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.-Royal Credit Union (RCU) has signed up its 100,000th member. Alan Craker became the lucky member when he joined the credit union recently, and was rewarded with $100 and a two-night stay at his choice of any Heyde Hospitality hotel. Members were also given 100 Grand candy bars. The credit union was founded in 1964.

Funds Raised For African CU

BELFAIR, Wash.-Two Washington credit unions have joined to help raise funds for an African CU whose safe, with more than $5,000 inside, was stolen. The theft occurred in the Ndiaw Ndiaw village in Zimbabwe. Kitsap Community FCU and Peninsula Community FCU teamed to hold bake sales and spaghetti meals to raise close to $6,200 for the CU. In addition, training consultant Carol Schillios led a two-day workshop for employees and donated her fee to help the village CU.

Schumacher Named SCPUD CEO

EVERETT, Wash.-Bob Schumacher, known to many credit unions for his long involvement in numerous credit union endeavors and for emceeing a number of CUNA and National CU Foundation events, has been named president/CEO of Snohomish County PUD Credit Union. Schumacher will replace Helen Van Putten, who is retiring.

Schumacher began with CUNA in 1977 and spent nine years working on the Credit Union National Advertising Program. He has worked for the Florida and Washington league, and is currently vice chairman of the Washington CU Foundation. He won the Washington CU League's Stephen R. Covey Personal Leadership Award in 1995 and was named to the CUNA Marketing Council Hall of Fame in 2002.
