Miss. CU System Changes Name

JACKSON, Miss.-The Mississippi CU System is now the Mississippi CU Association. The former MCUS made the announcement at its annual meeting.

"Replacing the word 'system' with 'association' better defines the type of organization we are and our role of representing Mississippi credit unions," said MCUA CEO Charles Elliott.

SECU Rolling Out Sweepstakes

RALEIGH, N.C.-To mark a new relationship with Enterprise Car Sales, State Employees Credit Union is launching a sweepstakes. Through Aug. 31, SECU members will have a chance to win one of two 2004 Chevrolet Classics to be given away in two separate drawings. Members can enter at two local Enterprise Car Sales locations or at any SECU branch.

Houston Energy Name Out of Gas

HOUSTON-Houston Energy Credit Union is changing its name to First Service Credit Union. The move comes as FSCU is expanding to a community charter.

With the name change a number of new products are being introduced, including a young adult checking account for members 18-24 called First Freedom, and a new relationship pricing model called First Rewards.

MCUL's Adams To Council

NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich.-Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) President/CEO David Adams has been appointed by Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm to her Council of Economic Advisors.

The council is made up of nearly 50 business and community leaders whose task is to generate ideas to help create jobs and boost the Michigan economy. Adams' term on the council will run through October 2006.

AFCU Expands ATM Access

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Arkansas Federal Credit Union has joined several ATM networks-DASH, CO-OP Network and CU Here, which will allow members to withdraw cash in free transaction at more than 220 ATM locations in the state. The CU now boasts more surcharge-free ATMs than any other institution in the state.

Arkansas FCU also offers a free guide to surcharge free ATMs in Arkansas to help its members locate free ATMS throughout the state.
