NCUF Seats New Board Members

WASHINGTON-The 2005 Board of Directors of the National Credit Union Foundation has been seated.

New are Hubert H. Hoosman, Jr., CEO of Vantage Credit Union in Missouri and Gary Oakland, CEO of BECU in Washington.

Incumbent re-elections included: Sandy Lingerfeldt, CEO of Clinchfield FCU; Mary Cunningham, CEO of USA FCU in California; and Dennis DeGroodt, CEO of Missouri Corporate Credit Union in Missouri.

Cunningham was elected chairman; Allan McMorris, CEO of Oakland County CU in Michigan was elected vice chairman; DeGroodt was elected treasurer; and Francois Henriquez, U.S. Central in Kansas, was elected secretary. John Fiore, immediate past chairman, will retire from the board; his seat will be filled by outgoing Chair Chuck Purvis.

AFCU Offering Remittances

LA HABRA, Calif.-American First Credit Union here said it has started offering international remittances through the Vigo Money Transfer services at all of its six Orange County branches. Through Vigo, members can send money to 42 countries. The fee on transactions of up to $1,000 is $10.

SC CU In 'Extreme Makeover'

ORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.-South Carolina FCU helped one family build its dream home-literally. SSFCU contributed $5,000 to ABC News 4's "Extreme Home Makeover" project, the local version of the national hit TV show that selects the rundown house of one deserving family and seven days later escorts that family back to its completely remodeled home. James and Selena Hamm, who happen to be members of SCFCU, were selected because Selena is battling multiple sclerosis and is confined to a wheelchair. The renovations helped make the home more wheelchair accessible.
