Security Service gives back

The Foundation for San Antonio-based Security Service FCU donated $10,000 to EnableUtah, a non-profit that provides jobs, skills training and employment services to adults with disabilities. EnableUtah’s document shredding facility was severely damaged by fire earlier this year. Separately, the SSC Foundation donated $5,400 to the Brighton Center to purchase therapeutic supplies and materials for its Early Childhood Intervention Program.

Robins Financial CU, Warner Robins, Ga., contributed $1,000 to the Monroe County Adult and Community Education Dictionary and Thesaurus Program. This sponsorship, along with others, will help support early literacy for children across Monroe County.

Tower FCU, Laurel, Md., surprised longtime member Theresa Johnson with a check for $1,000 toward her education expenses. This non-traditional student has worked in the nursing field for more than 20 years, and is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing from Stevenson University.

Ent CU, Colorado Springs, Colo., achieved Silver level recognition from the American Heart Association in the latest Workplace Health Achievement Index. The AHA said Ent took “significant steps to build a culture of health in the workplace.”

TopLine's "Back to School Drive" continues

TopLine FCU, Maple Grove, Minn., held its 14th-annual Back to School Drive. The CU gathered donations of school supplies and cash for two months. TopLine employees and members donated more than 1,300 items and nearly $1,200 to help students start the school year.

Class is in session

In Pensacola, Fla., Pensacola State College formally named the Pen Air Federal Credit Union Classroom, Room #2051, at the Edward M. Chadbourne Library. Naming the room symbolizes the partnership between the college and credit union. The room will host financial literacy classes and seminars for PSC students, Pen Air members and the entire community.

Fighting hunger and helping kids

Genisys CU, Auburn Hills, Mich., was awarded the 2017 Communitas Award for the credit union’s “Genisys Fights Hunger” campaign benefiting the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Separately, the CU’s staff collected $1,000 for Children’s Miracle Network by making donations in exchange for wearing casual clothing to work.
