Scott CU, Edwardsville, Ill., donated $5,000 to The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows to sponsor several events at the local shrine. Scott CU sponsored the annual Girls Day Out and the Tails, Trails & Twinkles event held during the Way of Lights.

Michigan State University FCU, East Lansing, Mich., was named the No. 1 employer in the large employer category on the 2016 Top Workplaces list by the Detroit Free Press. Separately, MSUFCU celebrated its 79th anniversary by employees performing random acts of kindness in the Greater Lansing and Oakland County communities.

State Employees’ CU, Raleigh, N.C., and its SECU Foundation worked in conjunction with the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency on Pearce House, a housing initiative in Wilmington for individuals with disabilities. The SECU Foundation made an interest-free loan of $413,000.

Robins Financial CU, Warner Robins, Ga., partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia by making a $4,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House’s 365 Day Society. In addition, Robins Financial staff volunteered to help at the house for two work days.

Crane CU, Franklin, Ind., distributed another round of prizes to winners of the Save to Win program. The CU has distributed more than $6,000 in prizes, with members winning from $25 to more than $500 in individual cash prizes.

Wheels of Success

GTE Financial CU, Tampa, Fla., in partnership with Wheels of Success, presented a low-mileage 2001 Honda Civic to Crystal, who is in a residential program for young girls who are victims of human trafficking. By Crystal receiving the vehicle, she will be promoted at her job and will be able to drive away from her past as a human trafficking victim.

Neighbors FCU, Baton Rouge, La., held a Choose a Charity Contest to benefit local non-profits. The winner, based on votes on Facebook, was Cat Haven of Baton Rouge.

Going green for a good cause

Northwest FCU, Herndon, Va., held a “Go Green” campaign advocating environmental responsibility. For every member who switched from paper statements to eStatements, or signed up for eStatements when opening their account, Northwest Federal donated $1 to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy: 2,652 members chose eStatements.
