Ribbons, Reagan and Red Noses: Credit Unions in the Community

Align CU, Lowell, Mass., commemorated the grand opening of its new location in Framingham, Mass., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The branch, located on Old Connecticut Path, replaces the former location on Concord Street.
GCS CU, Granite City, Ill., awarded the $2,000 Nicole R. Thorp Scholarship to Chayse Richardson of Collinsville High School in recognition of her active volunteer work at the Special Needs Soccer Association and Project Lead the Way Program.
The last time Listerhill CU, Muscle Shoals, Ala., hosted an auto sale, Ronald Reagan was president and "We Are the World" filled the airwaves. This year's version featured 13 area auto dealers and nearly 300 used vehicles at Listerhill's main office location.
As hundreds of Marines made their way through Bob Hope USO Ontario, Calif., they were greeted with words of appreciation, a lot of encouragement and a bag of snacks to enjoy on their trip from the team at Arrowhead CU, San Bernardino, Calif.
Los Angeles FCU, Glendale, Calif., awarded $1,000 each to nine winners of the 2016 Jack C. Mathews College Scholarship competition.
Clearview FCU, Moon Township, Pa., announced the winners of its 17th Annual Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship. Each awarded a $1,000 scholarship to use toward his/her college education.
Finger Lakes FCU, Geneva, N.Y., awarded scholarships to three local high school seniors in the amounts of $1,000, $750 and $500.
Kellogg Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., held its second annual Red Nose for Kids collection. In 10 days, the credit union collected $1,000 in monetary donations plus food items.
St. Anne's CU, Fall River, Mass., continued its support of United Way of Greater New Bedford by providing the organization with a $5,000 grant. The credit union also supports the United Way through events such as the Stamp out Hunger Food Drive and an Annual Clambake.
In Lompoc, Calif., CoastHills CU's "I'm All In" employee-giving program tripled projections since being introduced in December. In Q1, CoastHills presented $1,000 checks to the Central Coast Rescue Mission, Central Coast Music Academy and Fairlawn Elementary in Santa Maria.
