The Town & Country Federal Credit Union awards reception for the Better Neighbor Fund winners on the rainy evening of Thursday, November 16, 2017. The eight winning non-profits are awarded either a $2,000 or $5,000 grant, based on their organization’s operating budget of either under or over $500,000, respectively. The 2017 winners are The Family Restored, Hemophilia Alliance of Maine, Friendship House, Center for Wildlife, Riding to the Top, Wayside Food Programs, Family Crisis Services, and The Summer Camp. Town & Country is passionate about the community and wants to do its part to help our neighbors. That is why we created the Better Neighbor Fund in 2010. The Better Neighbor Fund is a program which makes grants available to local non-profit charitable organizations and community groups across Southern Maine to support initiatives and innovative ideas designed to improve and support the community. Grant recipients are nominated and selected by the public through an online voting process. Town & Country's Better Neighbor Fund gives away a total of $25,000 to eight non-profits across Cumberland and York Counties each fall to support good works in the community. Since 2010, Town & Country has given away $150,000 to support 48 local initiatives through the Better Neighbor Fund. (Photos by Whitney J. Fox Photography)
