VeriFone Providing Guess with iPad-Based Sales Apps

VeriFone Systems Inc. says it is providing Guess Inc. with iPad software that works with the retailer's point of sale systems.

The San Jose company says Guess is mounting the iPads on rolling pedestals, allowing the retailer to use them to showcase additional products to customers.

VeriFone said the iPads are already in about a dozen Guess stores.

Guess plans a larger rollout later in the year, according to a press release.

"Consumers can access our online resources in the store and sales associates can roll the iPads into the dressing room to visually display options and accessories to make shopping more fulfilling and enjoyable," said Michael Relich, Guess' executive vice president and chief information officer, in the release.

The iPads rely on mobile technology from GlobalBay, a VeriFone unit the company purchased in November. At the time, VeriFone didn't disclose the terms of that deal, nor is it now disclosing the terms of its agreement with Guess.
