2Q Earnings: eBay Profit Up as PayPal Volume Grows

PayPal's merchant services business had $4.92 billion of payment volume, 57% more than in last year's second quarter.

eBay's net income rose 50%, to $376 million, compared to the same period a year earlier. The company's revenue grew 30% to $1.8 billion.

PayPal's revenue rose 34% year over year, to $434 million. Its payment volume rose 32%, to $11.7 billion. International payment volume rose 49% and U.S. payment volume rose 25%.
