30-Year Fixed Rate Declines to 5.32%

Mortgage rates fell last week, but the average fixed rate on 30-year loans remained above 5%, according to Freddie Mac's weekly survey.

Rates had fallen earlier this year, but in recent months yields on Treasury securities moved higher, bringing mortgage rates along with them.

The 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.32% in the week ended Thursday, down from the previous week's 5.42% average and from 6.35% a year earlier, Freddie said.
