A trade group is born.

The shrinking thrift industry, waiting for its two national trade associations to merge, may soon have a new multistate trade group. The Texas Savings and Loan League, which has lost 213 of the 281 members on its roster in the mid-1980s, is "exploring possible regional affiliations." with neighboring states, said J. Eric T. Sandberg Jr., senior vice president.

He would not name his potential partners. One clue: the Texas League's annual conference is being held jointly with Oklahoma and New Mexico June 7-10 in Santa Fe.
