Accountis Sets Goal for E-Billing System

Accountis Ltd., an electronic documentation unit of Fundtech Corp. of Jersey City, said Wednesday that it hopes to use the e-billing system it is developing with DHL International GmbH to make a third of the courier company's invoices in Europe electronic by 2010.

Accountis has been working with DHL, which prints 18 million paper invoices a year in Europe, for two years to build the system. The courier company began testing the electronic billing system in Belgium last year and said its e-bill volume is increasing by about 30% a month.

Peter Radcliffe, Accountis' executive chairman, said in a press release that he expects more European companies to start converting more of their paper documents and records into electronic versions.

"Paper delivery notes, purchase orders, statements, remittances, and other related documents can all be taken online using our system," he said.
