AIG private-client group, a division of American International Group Inc., has expanded its hurricane protection unit to serve policyholders in Suffolk County on New York's Long Island.
Introduced in July 2006 and available throughout coastal Florida, the hurricane protection unit works to alleviate wind and water damage and help preserve the value of furnishings, art, and other valuables, the company said Monday.
In advance of an approaching storm, the private-client group's hurricane specialists track the storm's progress and projected landfall. Before landfall, teams go to policyholders whose homes are in the storm's path. After landfall, catastrophe-response units are dispatched to insured client's home in the affected areas to assess exterior damage.
Simultaneously, the New York private-client group communicates damage information to policyholders who have fled. Claims employees are to follow up with more detailed assessments as needed.
The hurricane protection unit's services are complimentary for eligible private-client group policyholders (who are required to enroll through their independent insurance advisers).
