Alerus Implements ClairMail Software

Alerus Financial Corp. of Grand Forks, N.D., is using software from ClairMail Inc. for its mobile banking service.

ClairMail is expected to announce the contract today. The Novato, Calif., vendor offers mobile banking software that can work with text messages, the browser built into many phones, or a downloadable application. Alerus said this multiprong approach would appeal to its customers.

"We wanted to empower our customers with complete and intuitive two-way mobile banking on any mobile phone, using their preferred mobile interface," Randy Newman, Alerus' president and chief executive, said in a ClairMail press release.

The $700 million-asset Alerus offers retail banking and wealth management services. It has $7 billion of trust assets under management and $325 million in brokerage assets.
