Szeftel, 58, will move into an advisory role to the private label operations in anticipation of his retirement. On Sept. 8, 2011, Melisa Miller will take over as president. Miller is currently senior vice president of client sales.

Szeftel will remain executive chairman of Alliance Data's World Financial Network Bank until his retirement. At that point he will become an independent board member of World Financial Network Bank.

Under his leadership, Alliance Data's private label business grew its credit sales to $9.5 billion from $4 billion in 2001.

Miller joined Alliance Data in 2006. Previously she had a sales leadership role with Experian.
