Allied Irish Appoints Chief Exec for U.S.

Allied Irish Bank PLC said Wednesday that it had named Frank P. Bramble chief executive of its U.S. division, succeeding Jeremiah E. Casey, who is scheduled to retire next year.

Mr. Bramble, 50, is president and chief executive officer of First Maryland Bancorp, an Allied Irish subsidiary. With his promotion, Mr. Bramble also becomes an executive director of Allied Irish. The new roles take effect Nov. 1.

Mr. Casey, 57, has been with Allied Irish for 41 years. He will continue as First Maryland's chairman and as a member of Allied Irish's group executive committee until sometime in 1999, the company said.

Mr. Bramble was appointed to the group executive committee this year.
