Ally Auditions Underwriters for IPO

Ally Financial Inc. is interviewing bankers this week for its initial public offering, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

The banks being interviewed as potential underwriters of Ally's stock offering include JPMorgan Chase & Co., Citigroup Inc., Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley, said the sources. The meetings, held in New York City Jan. 26 and 27, are with Ally officials, including Chief Executive Michael A. Carpenter, said one of the sources.

Gina Proia, a spokeswoman for Ally, declined to comment.

The timing and size of the IPO is yet to be determined; Ally said in 2010 that it is mulling the stock offering for sometime this year.
