Amerant Bancorp parting ways with CFO and co-president

Amerant Bancorp in Coral Gables, Fla., is parting ways with its co-president.

The $8 billion-asset company said in a press release Wednesday that Alberto Peraza will also resign as its chief financial officer, effective March 16. Amerant said Peraza’s resignation is for personal reasons and unrelated to its business performance, financial reporting or controls.

Peraza, who has been with Amerant for 28 years and played a leading role in its 2018 initial public offering, will remain CFO until the company completes and files its next annual report with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He will serve as an adviser to the company through April 28.

Alfonso Figueredo is the company’s other president.

Amerant appointed Carlos Iafigliola, it head of treasury, as interim CFO, starting March 16.

Iafigliola, who has been with Amerant for 16 years, has been in his current post since 2015, in charge of balance sheet management treasury functions.

Amerant did not specify the scope of its search for a permanent CFO. A call to the company was not immediately returned.
