American Bank Center in North Dakota to Buy Montana Bank

American Bank Center in Dickinson, N.D., has agreed to buy Community First Bank of Glendive in Montana.

The deal allows American Bank to enter Montana. The $1 billion-asset American Bank did not disclose the price it would pay for the $52 million-asset Community First. Stan Koppinger, American Bank's president and chief executive, could not be reached for comment.

American Bank will have 14 branches after completing the acquisition, including five branches in Bismarck, N.D. Most of American Bank's other branches are near the Bakken oil formation, one of the fastest-growing regions of the country. The bank's parent company, American Bancor, also owns North Country Bank in McClusky, N.D.
