Solidus Networks Inc. has sold the assets of its biometric payments unit Pay By Touch Processing Inc.
Merrick Bank Corp. of Draper, Utah, said last week that it had aquired it processing operations, and Accullink LLC, of Atlanta said it had bought its patent portfolio.
Merrick, a unit of CardWorks Inc., has created a subsidiary called CardWorks Processing for the Pay By Touch processing operations.
"We are focused on ensuring that merchants using Pay By Touch processing retain the uninterrupted ability to accept payment cards and maintain continuity in the payment system," Dave Watson, Merrick's chairman, said in a press release Thursday.
Accullink said Friday it plans to commercialize the 25 patents through its ATM Direct unit.
Solidus, of San Francisco, filed for bankruptcy late last year and has since shed several units.
