Customers of Southern Communications Services Inc. can now pay their bills at participating Southern Communications dealers that use a payments service from Fiserv Inc., the biller has announced.
Southern Communications, an Atlanta unit of Southern Co., said Tuesday that 45 of its dealers in the Southeast had connected their billing systems to the payment network operated by Fiserv's CheckFreePay unit. Customers can pay their bills in person, for a $5 fee, and their accounts are credited the same day. The dealers all take cash, and some accept Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc. cards.
CheckFreePay offers walk-in payment services for more than 1,000 billers at more than 12,000 sites nationwide.
David Keith, Southern Communications' general manager of dealer relations, said in a press release that the service gives customers "an additional quick and dependable option when they need to make a last-minute, in-person bill payment."
