Online Marketplace Lender Biz2Credit Adds Third Payment Partner

Auction.com, an online real estate marketplace, has named Gordon Smith its general manager of commercial real estate.

Smith currently heads the California company's finance unit, which provides financing for commercial and residential real estate investors who bid for properties on the website. The unit will become part of the commercial division now headed by Smith, who will be in charge of all Auction.com's business in retail, multifamily, office, industrial and other CRE sectors.

Smith was managing director with Fortress Investment Group before joining Auction.com seven months ago. He previously worked for UBS, BlackRock Financial Management and several other companies.

"Gordon has a unique combination of deep real estate sales experience combined with a track record of significantly improving the operations and management teams of multiple portfolio companies," Chief Executive Jeff Frieden said in a press release Tuesday announcing the move.
